High and Dry by IACG High and Dry by IACG
A conceptual piece I did while trying to come up with a story idea, my focus on this one was clarity. Originally I was going to crop it but I was rather fond of the excess blue space in the image.

According to my story here, there's this caveman who's been living in the hills and as time went by the weather started getting hotter and hotter and before long all the icy landscape in which he had lived turned into a sea. As the water level rose he kept on climbing higher and higher all that was left was the peak of the tallest hill in the area, now a tiny island. And so he built a hut out of driftwood and settled down into his new life.

Hum, the only thing that bothers me is the characters absence in the reflection, but I can only assume this was intentional. XD
Maybe he's a ghost. SPooooOOOOooooky.
But seriously, it looks oh so amazing.

Hmmm, in all seriousness it was a little oversight which I never got around to fixing, but for the sake of good humour I'd like to pretend it's a ghost :P

this is really beautiful. ;v;

what brush do you use?

Thanks! Normally I use a mix of a few select brushes, but more often than not I block in the shapes with a large square brush than just use a simple hard round brush for the details, nothing fancy. I also used a few custom shapes which I made for some little details like vegetation.

oh wow ;v; haha i'm starting to find that all the great artists mainly use the default brushes, instead of intricate custom brushes like i'd thought!!

thank you for answering <3
